CMT AWARDS- 2023
On Sunday, the CMT Music Awards took place at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The event is unique because it is voted on by fans. Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown had the honor of hosting the ceremony and also performing during the event. Kane Brown and his wife Katelyn Brown made history by becoming the first-ever husband-and-wife duo to win the coveted Video of the Year Award. Their winning song was “Thank God,” which was released in 2022.
Jelly Roll, a rapper and country singer, also had a successful night, taking home three trophies, including the Male Breakthrough Video of the Year. There were several popular artists who performed during the ceremony, such as Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, and Alanis Morissette. Alanis Morissette made her CMT debut with a performance celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the “CMT Next Women of Country.”
Shania Twain, a country music icon, received the 2023 “CMT Equal Play Award.” Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lynyrd Skynyrd were also honored with tribute performances by various artists.
