Dr. Harsh Vardhan
Dr. Harsh Vardhan is an Indian politician and a medical practitioner. He was born on December 13, 1954, in Delhi, India. He graduated from the University College of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, in 1979, and earned a Master of Science degree in ENT from the same university in 1983. In 1992, he received his Ph.D. in Otorhinolaryngology from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan has been active in politics since the 1990s. He was first elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly in 1993, representing the Krishna Nagar constituency. He was re-elected to the assembly in 1998, 2003, and 2008. In 2013, he was appointed as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare in the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He served in this position until 2014.
During his tenure as the Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan played a key role in the eradication of polio in India. He also launched several national health programs, including the National Rural Health Mission and the National Urban Health Mission. Dr. Harsh Vardhan is married to Nutan and has two sons. His elder son, Dr. Pulkit Vardhan, is a cardiologist, while his younger son, Dr. Mayank Vardhan, is an orthopedic surgeon.
